Base Layer Challenge - The route to hell, with a round ending

On Saturday 14 June we were part of the Base Layer Challenge with the Pizza Stick refreshments, a unique experience on wheels. It was an encounter with the essentials of sport: the effort, the community, the beauty of the landscape... and a good pizza on arrival.

 

An epic day at the Base Layer Challenge

 

The event, organised by the Pertot & Tactic gave us a very tough route with sections of streratto that left their mark. Some cyclists suffered more than others (and more than one bike too!), but they all agreed: the Base Layer Challenge with the Pizza Stick was a challenge that paid off.una ruta ciclista increible base layer challenge

The taste of effort

From 12:00 we started to prepare everything with care: pizza bread with guacamole and hummus, fresh fruit, cold drinks, olives, potatoes... Everything presented on our personalised tablecloth, decorated with wild flowers. The soul of Pizza Stick was in every detail.

From 13:00, the first participants of the short version started to arrive. And from then on, one after the other, the bicycles were calmly coming in. Smiling, grateful and happy cyclists, sharing stories and impressions of a route that was as tough as it was unforgettable.

More than a race, a shared experience

What we appreciated most about the Base Layer Challenge Pizza Stick was just that:
There was no time cut.
It was not about winning.
The idea was to share a hellish route, at the pace of each one of us.
To enjoy suffering, and to do so in good company.
A rounded experience organised with love, detail and a lot of heart.
